Kween Kash

"Maven of the arts."

A Brooklyn NY native, with Caribbean roots, Kween Kash was born with a passion for culture & entrepreneurship. With a family that valued both hard work and celebration. Kash was introduced to duality at an early age. This exposure both challenged and inspired her relationship to structure and creativity. As a child, imagination helped her structure characters and develop tales with keen observation of friends, strangers and relatives. All who would become subjects of stories, rhymes and plays. Kween Kash’s deep connection to The Arts was born.

At an early age, Kash was recognized for a unique ability to bring her characters to life through visual art and fashion. She was often selected to compliment lessons with illustrations in school publications, designing bulletins and creating wardrobe for talent shows and plays. This recognition inspired her to develop and market her apparel & accessory brand, AKween.com. Everything she creates becomes an opportunity for community, connection and creative career.

Love and Longing, Abundance and Abandonment, Independence and Restriction are some of the dualistic themes from life that surface in her work. Furthermore, Kash explores each of these concepts through her lens as a first generation American with strong Trinidadian heritage and ideals. As a creative, she is the epitome of both the clash and fusion between Western opportunism and West Indian work ethic. Kween Kash is an artist of many hats, skills and trades.

In 2005, she starred in an off-broadway production of ”The Diva and The Rapper” - the story of a budding relationship between a mature, well-to-do singer and a young, know-it-all lyricist from New York City. In 2006, she went on her first, multi-city tour as opening musician for Hip-hop acts Slim Thug, Paul Wall & Big Brother. She later appeared on MTV & BET as a Hip-hop artist to watch. She has gone on to share stages with legends KRS-One, MC Lyte, Doug E. Fresh, Roxanne Shante, Eve and Naughty by Nature to name a few. Kash was voted “Best Female Emcee” at New York’s Underground Music Awards and “Best Female Freestyler” by the Hip-hop Culture Center.

As a writer, Kween Kash has penned song lyrics for a number of emerging artists. In 2014 she wrote, produced and scored her first short film, for MOTHER only. A piece about a mom coping with the abduction of her newborn. She continued her exploration of motherhood with the independent release of a documentary about the woes of her own unpleasant pregnancy entitled, I’m NOT Glowing in 2017. Kween Kash is also a 2023 recipient of the NYC Women's Fund for Media,Music & Theatre grant for her scripted series, Homegirl TV Show. Kash’s recent literary work is Giving Grace Vol. 1, an Amazon bestseller and co-authored book series about the motherhood journey by women of color. Kween also penned a series of children’s books, based on the antics of and starring her 3 sons: The Sarvis Boys present...

Kween Kash served as resident DJ, media and karaoke host for several New York venues. She is currently re-working her one woman show, Maternity Leave, about her life and motherhood, featuring the element of hip hop, while showcasing each of her art forms and disciplines. Under her production company, ALL KWEEN, Kash is also producing a documentary about first generation Americans, and is in post production of the second season of her award winning web-series, Homegirl TV Show, in which she writes, directs and stars.
